The Linux Professional Institute (LPI) has released version 3.0 of the LPIC-3 Mixed Environments exam. The new version is a major update that brings fundamental changes to the exam objectives and adapts the topics covered to recent technological changes. The LPIC-3 certification programme is the highest level currently offered by LPI and covers advanced open source topics in organisational computing infrastructure.
The new learning objectives focus on Samba 4 in conjunction with Active Directory Domains. A separate topic has been added that covers managing Linux domains with FreeIPA and integrating FreeIPA with Active Directory. In addition, NT4 domains, NetBIOS services and OpenLDAP are no longer audited, which is part of LPI's regular audit reviews.
"Version 3.0 is a complete redevelopment of the LPIC-3 Mixed Environments exam. We have removed obsolete tools and commands and added a number of powerful technologies that are well established in the IT infrastructure of almost all organisations," says Fabian Thorns, Director of Product Development at LPI.

The LPIC-3 Mixed Environments Version 3.0 certification exams will be available at Pearson VUE testing centres and on the OnVUE online testing platform beginning Monday, August 23, 2021.
