The Linux Professional Institute (LPI) is committed to the development of a global standard in Linux and open source certification. We believe that such a certification program must meet the needs of both IT professionals and the companies that would employ them. To achieve this goal, we have established an open, rigorous and consultative development process that uses both voluntary and hired resources. Our development process is widely recognized and meets the stringent requirements of independent certification bodies.

LPIC-1, LPIC-2 and LPIC-3 are part of the same LPI program. A valid certification at the previous level is required for certification at a higher LPIC level; the individual exams may be taken in any order.

Python programming: from entry-level PCEP through PCAP to professional-level PCPP1. These certifications are not a mandatory exam sequence.

PCPP1: The active PCPP-32-101 exam grants lifetime validity. PCPP-32-102 is in development with an announced validity of 5 years.

Badges identify the certifications, not credentials held by OSC or an endorsement of OSC. The certification marks belong to their respective owners: Linux Professional Institute, OpenEDG / Python Institute and The Linux Foundation / CNCF.
